NASCAR México Series Raced At Querétaro

The Top-Mexican motorsport championship, NASCAR México Series, completed its first-half of the 2026 season after their sixth round held at the Autódromo de Querétaro.

Xavi Razo, at the wheel of the No. 7 car, reached his first win of the season on the main championship. Gerardo Chispa Rodríguez, rookie from Alessandros Racing, took his first victory on the Challenge division.

Calm

NASCAR México Series sixth round, named Querétaro 140, was held last Saturday evening. The race was started at 3:40 pm local time under a cloudy sky.

From pole position Julio Rejón led all the way through the Stage 1, which was run completely on green flag. From the lead, the stock No. 55 broke away, started to lap the backmarkers on his way to the Stage win.

Xavi Razo was the only driver that could match the leader's pace. Both cars, No. 55 and No. 7, ran away over ten seconds from their chasers.

The spotlight during the first stage was on the battle for 3rd place: Max Gutiérrez, Alex de Alba and Irwin Vences fought hard for the last Stage point. The No. 46 prevailed.

JV Motorsports swept Stage 1 wins with No. 55 on the main series and No. 20, from Emiliano Richards, on the Challenge division.

Richards climbed rapidly to the top spot on the Challenge Series and stood his ground to the green-white chequered flag. Gerardo Chispa Rodríguez started on pole, lost positions at the start and recovered to 2nd place; Giancarlo Vecchi was 3rd at the Stage finish.

Before the Storm

J. Rejón returned to the lead followed by Razo and Vences after the Stage brake.

As Stage 1 ran without cautions, the field still needed to make their mandatory fuel racharge and teams started to plan if they needed to pit during a green flag run.

Everybody got a strategy break on lap 87, when the yellow flag waved because of an incident of the No. 11 machine. This caution change the outcome of the race: Razo came out of the pits on the lead; J. Rejón and Vences lost spots.

Razo, from Tame Racing, lead the restart and went on to win the race even after a late caution with 2 laps to go and Overtime restart. The No. 7 machine managed to keep the lead on the final two laps on his way to his first win of the season.

“We knew that we were going to win. Also, on a personal note: I have a won on three different teams now. I’m very happy and proud of that achievement,” said Razo after his triumph.

The veteran driver from the No. 08 car, Jose Luis Ramírez, surprised the field climbing from 5th to 2nd on the last restart. De Alba, on board of the No. 14 from AGA Racing Team finished on the 3rd spot.

The fight for the Challenge Series win was intense between the No. 20 and No. 27 cars. Richards started 1st, later after the pit spots for fuel had to defend from Chispa Rodriguez who charged to the front.

The secondary division results were defined on Overtime. Richards took advantage from the choose rule to climb on the order on the outside lane, taking the lead over Rodríguez. In the end, the Alessandros Racing driver had a better restart and went on to win the race by 0.428 seconds over the JV Motorsports pilot.

“I knew I had to race with a cool head, I did that and it gave me a great result because I reached my first win on the series!” claimed Rodríguez after the podium celebrations.

The Challenge series had a all-rookie podium: Chispa Rodríguez claimed his first win followed by points leader Emiliano Richards and teammate Mateo Girón.

Right on cue, during the podium celebrations rain fell hard over the venue of the Querétaro 140.

Triple Battle for the Win

Trucks México Series delivered a a great spectacle throughout the 70 laps race at the Autódromo de Querétaro.

The sixth round of the season, scheduled at 1:35 pm local time, started with a surprise on pole position: Valeria Aranda, driver of the No. 27 truck, led the field to the green flag.

Roberto Espinosa, championship leader, took the top spot rapidly but Aranda responded and got back to the lead, until the first caution flag waved —because of a spin from Sol Díaz. The No. 27 team decided to pit for their mandatory tire change and was followed by 15 other trucks.

The No. 96 from Dynamic Motorsports took a different approach: Espinosa stayed on track, kep the lead, won the Stage —gained 5 extra points— and entered pits during the Stage brake.

Luck for Aranda ran out as the No. 27 experienced mechanical issues taking her out of contention for the race win.

The last segment of the race, 40 laps to go, was led by Santiago Cruz. Carlos Novelo increased his pace, went on attack for the lead and took it over the Alessandros Racing truck. The No. 18 vehicle was followed by Jan Krüll and then by Espinosa who climbed back to the top spots.

After the last restart, on lap 47, the Top-3 distanced themselves from the rest and started to battle hard but fairly for the win: Espinosa, Novelo and Krüll changed the lead various times during the final laps while shoving and pushing each other.

On the final lap Krüll made the decisive move, stood firm on the inside lane heading into Turn 1 making impossible for the No. 96 and No. 18 to attack him the rest of the way. The rookie driver from ANVI Motorsport took his first win of the Truck Series.

“It was a tiring weekend, very hard. We started on 8th place, all race we were trying to reach the top spots. On the last lap I saw the space, went in there and it worked,” mentioned Krüll after his win.

The 2nd place ended with a tie between the No. 96 and No. 18 trucks. Espinosa was credited with the spot being 0.002 seconds over Novelo according to the unofficial timing.

NASCAR México Series is set to return to action on August 1-2, after a Summer break; the Mexican Stock championship is scheduled to visit Súper Óvalo Potosino, at San Luis Potosí, for their seventh round of the 2026 season.
